I was positive ...

And so too was David Ortiz. Bam!

Called it.

Called it.

Called it.

Shouldn't we now just assume everyone except DereK Jeter was doing it and move on?

& why shouldn't the baby Jesus I mean Jeter be held under the same microscope?

Really? You honestly think Jeter was using? Wow.

One answer could be, Ortiz was a middling cast off from the Twins and suddenly turned into this feared monster. While Jeter was put up the same numbers his entire career, .300 hitter, 15-20 home runs 70 RBIs, and so on.

Jeter maxed out at 24 home runs in 1999 (and he should have won the MVP; .349 BA, 102 RBIs , 219 hits). He hit 23 in 2004. Maybe he WAS using! His 162 game average is 17 home runs.

Starting in 2000 Ortiz hit the following: 10. 18, 20, 31, 41, 54, 35 ... huh. After the 20 home run season, the Twins chose not to resign him, that was 2002. He signed with the Sox, as you know, in 2003 ... and like magic, he's a juggernaut. I guess it's just coincidence.

I doesn't matter either way.

It's satisfying to know Ortiz was using, but the fact is, so many people were using, unless it's discovered someone else had cybernetic implants, were talking about a level playing field for anyway, even if it's juiced.

Which, happily shows just how great Jeter is.

Please read the article from NESN.com. Note Nomar's comments about some players refusing to take the test in an effort to implement a drug testing policy. Papi was increasingly outspoken on the issue of PEDs- maybe he was one of the players who refused to test, resulting in a positive test.

I was never niave enough to think Ortiz never did PEDs. To the contrary, his numbers after he left Minn. suggest a very good chance that he was on something. Because Jeter has never hit many HRs is your arguement against him never being on something? Come on Meo your smarter than that aren't you? Meo hello?

Jeter shows no signs of a user.

He's done pretty much the same thing his whole career, with no odd fluctuations in statistics, no randomly odd injuries (except for when Pedro was targeting his hands), no growth spurts ...

Sure, you wouldn't suspect Jason Grimsley of juicing. He was a relatively normal size and he experienced absolutely no fluctuation in his statistics - they were all mediocre to bad. It's not unreasonable based on that to think anybody was using.

It just so happens some people end up looking like cartoon characters, Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Jose Canseco, and some don't are aren't as easy to spot ... and all this is in hindsight anyway.

As for the Nomar interview:

That's extremely convenient. If the players wanted testing, they should have said, "Test me, I'm clean and I want everyone else tested."

If they really wanted testing, they're a union, they could have pushed for it. Really pushed for it. Instead, they allowed scumbag Don Fehr to dictate what would happen.

Instead, they decide to "purposefully" fail a test to skew numbers so the testing will go into effect by default?

Oh, it was supposed to be confidential. Right. Military secrets leak, government secrets leak. It's the Information Age. NOTHING is confidential.

Also, if Ortiz "purposefully" failed the test, why is he now saying he's just finding out about it? Why isn't he saying, he wanting testing so he did what Nomar is suggesting so many people did?

Obviously we don't know who has/hasn't done PEDs unless outed. All that I'm saying is no one is above suspicion, not even your binky.

Don't you mess with my boy!

Seriously though, I agree. It could be anyone.

But the only people who seem to truly care are media. As a baseball fan, I don't. As a Yankees fan, as I said, it's somewhat gratifying to know Ortiz and more importantly Manny, were on whatever they were on.

I was recently convinced Youk is a user: he sweats like a hog; he's got that incandescent rage thing going on; his numbers have dropped like a stone; his got that huge head forested with an disturbing amount what I'll tentatively describe as "hair."

I'm just saying.

Sadly, Ortiz has been nothing but a likable gentleman his whole career. I just wish he hadn't said "I just found out." But, the BoSox fans gave him that standing O, so, I think this will pass quickly in Boston, if nowhere else.

Until we find out Albert Pujols is on something. That will be a shite storm. I bet ESPN gives that story the Erin Andrews treatment. "PEDs? What PEDs?"

Whatever bad things happen to Manny, I'll celebrate.
