It is early yet. As soon as they switch Joba with Hughes things will turn around.
Good quote though.
Phil must not be a Yankee fan because Joba in the bullpen wouldn't have stopped the slide this team is on. Hughes has been lights out in the bullpen.
Rivera has pitched twice in the last two weeks, what good would Joba be in the bullpen if you can't get to him.
Back up the truck...
Robert -- Definitely not a Yankee fan but I do know where Joba belongs. He doesn't have enough pitches to be a good starter. He is a dominant set up man and the closer of the future for the team.
Correct, Hughes has been awesome but he is better suited for the rotation. If they were not pigheaded about sticking with Wang, Hughes would be back there.
The great Yankee teams in the recent past ('96-'00) had a great/dominant bull pen. Kind of like the Red Sox have.
Figures a Sox fan telling us how to run our team.
They also had a great/dominant rotation. Bullpen didn't win championships, the team did.
I'll take Joba for six innings rather than one right now. When Rivera decides he's all done, then you can have that discussion.
Wang has given the organization to much in the past three years not to give him a shot at starting again. Hughes is just the odd man out till someone gets hurt.
It seems Wang is getting from the Yankees what Ortiz is getting from the Sox. Difference is the Sox can survive Ortiz not hitting four times a game, which is turning around. The Yanks can't survive Wang getting lit up and burning the bullpen.
I'm happy Hughes has gotten it together. He's proving he is what the Yankees said he was. He could be a No.1.
